Last Hurrah of the Summer

Summer is drawing to a close, so we spent our last family day of the summer at Grant's Farm.  The weather was overcast and a little muggy, but thankfully not too hot.  This time we started off our trip by visiting the Clydesdales before taking the tram into the park.  We did all the normal activities - fed the goats, watched the bird and elephant shows, saw the huge tortoise, ate sno cones, and, of course, sampled some beer.

I about punched the goats in the face that were jumping on me!  I hate this part of Grant's Farm!

Delaney was smart and moved to the other side of the fence to feed them.

We decided to try a new (to us) place for lunch called Iron Barley.  It is a little neighborhood joint in South City that was featured on an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.  We've heard lots of people rave about it so we thought we'd try it out.  I thought I would be adventurous and order one of the sandwiches they are known for - The Ballistic Elvis - which has strawberry jam, crunchy peanut butter, bananas, American cheese, and bacon on grilled Texas toast.  Yes, it was as gross as it sounds.  I'm glad it only cost $7.95!  My caeser salad was delicious, though!

We had a perfect ending to the day when Honey and Grandpa called us to come over for some homemade peach cobbler in the evening.  It was nice to hang out at their house and visit for a while.
