Memorial Day Biathalon

This morning we went out to watch Allan participate in the annual Memorial Day Biathalon in Highland. He's been doing this event for 10 years. He always has one person (usually his boss) that he's competing against. This year it was Betsy, one of the workers at the store. He didn't really train for it, which kind of bugs me. I mean, not many people can pick up and run 5 miles and bike 15 miles with hardly any training at all!

Getting a good luck kiss from Harper.
And one from Delaney

They're off!

Thankfully there is a very nice playground where the girls could play while waiting for Daddy to be done with the running portion.

Daddy's biggest fans!

Allan ran the 5 miles in 43:18, which was just 1 minute slower than Betsy who has qualified for the Boston Marathon.

More playground time while Daddy was out on the bike.

Allan made up 6 minutes on Betsy and ended up beating her! He finished in 1:27:27. Great job, Babe!

A congratulatory kiss from Delaney.

Helper Harper

As wild and crazy as Harper is, she is also a super helper. She loves to throw things in the trashcan, vacuum, help me dry my hair, and bring everyone their shoes. Allan snapped these shots of her cleaning up this morning after breakfast.

Lucas's Sprinkler Party

Lucas had a sprinkler party today to celebrate his 2nd birthday! They had a Slip 'n' Slide, baby pool, water table, water sprayers, water balloons and a sprinkler for the kids to keep cool. My girls had a blast until the very end when Harper reached her limit and needed a nap.
Harper is crying because I wouldn't let her eat the sunscreen. Doesn't she look cute, though, in the coverup Debbie bought her for her birthday?

Big Brother Tyler kept shooting me with his water squirter :)

Harper ate her weight in watermelon!

She spent most of the time playing on this slide. I was thankful it was in the shade.

Yum!

Uncle Kenny's Special Place

My brother and sister-in-law just bought a weekend getaway at an RV park and invited us to come hang out and go to dinner. It's such a neat place where people are very friendly and you can feel the tension leave you when you drive up. Delaney calls it "Uncle Kenny's Special Place". There are 11 ponds full of bass and bluegill in the complex and K and K's trailer sits on one of them.

Uncle Ken gives Delaney her first fishing lesson.

She looks like a pro!

This is the view from their front porch.

Allan gives it a shot. Unfortunately, no one had any success.

She Did What??

In case you're not my friend on Facebook and haven't read my latest status update, I wanted to let you know that Delaney pooped in our neighbor's baby pool today. That's right - my 3 1/2 year old NOT my 15 month old! I was mortified! To make matters worse, I had to watch the Dad empty the pool and clean it out while we were eating dinner. I guess I better buy him some beer or something...

Thankfully for you, no pics of the incident :)

Pool Time!

Allan and I went to the storage unit to pick up the baby pool today. I cleaned it and filled it up this morning so it would be warm by the time the girls got up from nap. It's a hit!

We were literally in the pool for only 5 minutes when we heard thunder in the distance. We didn't see any lightening so I let the girls keep playing. The thunder kept happening, though, and I'm a chicken, so we headed into the garage to wait out the storm.

A cute Harper pose - love the chalk on her legs.

Delaney can't stand if I take a picture of Harper alone, so she had to have one too. A cute Delaney pose?

I just had to take this picture. Don't be fooled into thinking the footprints are because she just got out of the pool. Nope. She peed in her swim diaper (which are not designed to hold in urine, only poop) and it leaked all down her leg. Yep. Pee footprints.

She then decided to sit in the puddle of pee to wash the chalk off of her legs.

Last Day of Preschool

Today was Delaney's last day of preschool. I'm so happy that my last day was yesterday so that I could be the one to take her and pick her up. Delaney has made so much progress over the course of this year - her two main achievements were no more biting and hitting and becoming potty-trained! She also got better at letter recognition and letter sounds. According to Delaney, her favorite part of school is painting.

Mrs. Kristen put alot of time, money, effort, and creativity into the projects and activities she did with the kids. This is the last project they did.

Trailer = Nap?

Both times we have taken the girls on a bike ride this year, Harper has fallen asleep in the trailer. I wonder what the secret is...

Chicken Enchilada Casserole

The girls helped me make Chicken Enchilada Casserole tonight - Daddy's request. My job was to hold Harper and try to put chicken in the tortilla and Delaney's job was to put the cheese on top. They turned out great and both girls enjoyed them. I've always heard that if you have your kids help you cook the meal, they are more likely to try it. It worked this time.

This is the Life

Allan scooted Delaney's chair closer to the railing so she could put her feet up and watch the sunset.

1st Hot Day

We've had some unseasonably cold and wet weather for May, but this week is going to make up for it. Today was the first day of what's supposed to be a streak of 90 degree sunny but humid days. We took advantage of the beautiful weather by having our friends and neighbors come play in the sprinkler and have lunch with us. So much fun!

Baby Luke even made an appearance!

I can just imagine this same sight with the girls laying out on the back porch in 10 years.
