Allan and Brian had a work trip to Phoenix, so Krista and I decided to join them before the meetings and make a getaway out of it. We started by flying to Las Vegas and staying at the Palazzo for two nights. It is connected to the Venetion. While there, we did lot of walking, ate at a couple of great restaurants, and saw The Mentalist show. The weather was decent but not fabulous. Better than the teens at home, though!
I've never ridden in a limousine before, so since the price was comparable to a taxi and our luggage would easily fit, we took it!
Our bathroom and room at the Palazzo. We were on the 42nd floor.
We dropped our bags off in our rooms, and hit the town. We just walked around and ate at a delicious burger place in the Mirage. No gambling that first night.
While walking through Caesars Palace Forum Shops the first night, Allan took a shortcut through the "no access" hall. He thought he was such a rebel! We made it back to our rooms after midnight, which felt like 2 am our time. That's a big deal for me because I had gotten up at 5:15 and worked all day that day.
The next morning, we had a leisurely breakfast at Grand Luxe Cafe. If you go there, you have to try the orange juice!
We did lots more walking around and went into a couple of shops and a couple of different casinos. I think the total gambled and lost by all four of us combined was less than $100! No one won anything, so we didn't spend too much time at the slots. Brian and Allan did play Craps for about five minutes, but, again, no wins.
We watched the Bellagio fountain shows a couple of times. Of course, I made everyone go in the lobby to see the Chihuly ceiling :).
We ate a late lunch at Serendipity by Caesar's, then went back to our rooms to rest and clean up for the night.
We had gotten tickets for a show called "The Mentalist" at Planet Hollywood. It was a pretty entertaining show in which the host acted sort of like a psychic.
Afterwards, we were walking around the Cosmopolitan (I think) to find a good place to eat dinner and we ran into Teller of the famous magician duo, Penn and Teller, who was waiting for some friends to go into a club. If you don't remember, Teller doesn't speak at all when he was in character. It was so cool to have a conversation with him (thanks Brian for initiating it!). He was super gracious and even offered to take a group selfie with us. Fun!
We didn't find a good place to eat there, so we continued walking and eventually ended up eating at a Wolfgang Puck pizza place but I don't remember which casino it was in.
We got to bed after midnight again, but not too late because we planned to be on the road to Hoover Dam by 8 am the next morning.

Fun reading about your trip, Jen!!
