Now it's time for mine and Allan's favorite part of the trip - Sedona! We had breakfast at our Flagstaff hotel, then drove the two hours to Sedona, stopping at a couple of scenic overlooks and photo ops and a Navajo flea market. Allan haggled a deal and bought the girls beaded necklaces and bracelets.
We arrived in Sedona late morning. The sun was shining and temps were in the 50's. It felt great! We walked around the shops, had coffee and a treat at a local bakery, then went to book our Pink Jeep Tour. The only available time they had for four was a sunset tour. That sounded great to us! We had time to eat lunch at a Mexican place, then head back to the hotel to relax. Well, Krista and I read and relaxed by the beautiful heated infinity pool. The guys went for a run then came back to soak in the hot tub. It was perfect!
Our hotel, the Amara Resort and Spa, was lovely and so convenient. All of the employees were very helpful and the grounds were gorgeous and full of complimentary amenities. They had bike rental, morning yoga classes, valet, and poolside cabanas - all free! We will definitely be back!!

I posted this picture on Facebook with the caption "Sitting poolside with 56 degrees and full sun - be jealous" since it was still in the teens at home!
Krista and Brian before the guys went for a run.
We walked back into town (an extra half mile further than necessary thanks to Brian's "shortcut" :)) at 4:00 pm for our jeep tour. I was so excited to get up close and personal with the gorgeous red rocks. Our guide, Jerry, didn't disappoint, although he did talk about some scientific geological details at length. But he was pretty funny.
Submarine rock
Jerry spouting out some fact about the "vortex" or something.
Submarine rock lies on a fault line. This picture is neat because it shows how the two plates have shifted.
It's so hard to get a good picture of the terrain and inclines that Jerry drove us over. Those jeeps are amazing!
I love the idea of this picture, but don't like that I look like an amazon woman compared to Allan.
I love the light and colors in these next few pictures.
This gives some perspective to how high into the rocks we went. This is submarine rock that we had been on earlier. It looks tiny here, but felt huge and high up when we were on it at the time.
Again, Jerry was a terrific driver and gave us quite a thrill when he took us down this incline, seemingly to the edge of a cliff. We were holding on for dear life!
The colors at sunset were amazing!
A couple more attempts to capture the crazy, rocky, bumpy, declines Jerry drove us down. Wild!
After the Pink Jeep Tour, we ate a late dinner on a beautiful outdoor terrace at Sound Bites restaurant. Then we went back to the hotel and sat by and outdoor fireplace and had some coffee. Everything about it was just perfect.
