Summer School!

This year Delaney's school, Kids First, offered a summer program. Since Delaney loves school so much we decided to do it. And, let's be honest, I was super excited about having Mommy time from 9:30 - 1:00 every Tuesday and Thursday!! Another advantage to summer school is that I can be the one to take Harper to school for her first 7 weeks and get her through the transition time rather than the Grandma's having to be the ones to deal with tearful drop-offs. Not gonna lie, though, Mommy time was still my #1 motive :)

Happy Girls

Yes, I know that their backpacks are almost as big as they are!

Delaney and her buddy Tyler. Sad but true, Delaney has been in school for the past two years and this is the first time I've ever made her carry her own backpack. Yes, she is spoiled.

Honey came to snap a few pictures of Harper's first day.

Harper literally ran in the building and went straight to the Kids First hallway. She was very excited, she didn't know what about.

Making herself at home in her classroom.

Harper and her teacher Anna. She was fine for the first few minutes. I left confidently to take Delaney to her class. When I checked back in on Harper, though, I found that she had escaped into the hall and she was crying. I honestly think it was a chain reaction because other kids were crying. She wouldn't have even realized I was gone otherwise! I took her back into her room, suggested to her teacher that she close the door, gave her a couple more kisses and hugs and walked out. I know the drill.

Delaney had no problems going into her class. She went straight to the cars to play! Here she is blowing me a kiss goodbye.

Mrs. Denise has subbed in Delaney's old class, so they know each other well - well enough for Mrs. Denise to know to give Delaney the "green" carpet square :)
When I picked them up after school, they both had done great. Harper had taken a 30 minute nap, although it was in her teacher's arms, and had eaten her lunch all up. I think she's gonna do just as good as her big sister! The best part is that Harper took a 2 hour nap when she got home!!
