Halloween 10K

Ness and I did the Halloween 10K in downtown StL today.  It was brutal.  I could write a list of complaints a mile long but it all boils down to me stupidly thinking that training (sort of) on the super flat trails by my house would prepare me for the crazy hills in the city.  I panicked when I forgot my sunglasses, but when I walked for the first time at mile two because of the hills, I knew I was doomed.  To top it all off, they had run out of water at mile 4 where I was planning to take my Gu!  Apparently, there were more 5kers that ran through before us than they had planned for.  After that, I was just mentally done.  My overall time was 1:09:47, almost 4 minutes slower than my goal of 1:06 or less, so I was disappointed.

I have decided that I am going to train correctly for the marathon relay in April because I WILL conquer those darn hills!!
