Special Night

We decided to surprise the girls tonight by taking them to The Spaghetti Factory and using our Groupon for the Wild Lights display at the zoo with the Joneses and Buschs.  I don't think our girls have ever been to the Spaghetti Factory before.  They loved the fancy chairs, staircase, and the trolley in the middle of the restaurant!

Just as we were finishing up our meal, Erin called to tell us that she read the fine print on the Groupon and that the Wild Lights display wasn't even open tonight! Uh oh. We hurriedly looked on our phones for alternatives that were close and cheap.  Ness saw that Anheuser-Busch had a drive-thru light display, so we thought we would give it a shot.  It really was pretty, but the girls were disappointed that we couldn't get out and walk around.

Then we looked up Candy Cane Lane which in the St. Louis Hills off of 44.  At this point, the girls were getting restless, Allan was getting crabby, and I was frustrated that our special night was not so special.  It wasn't too far away, so we thought we would try this one last place.  I'm so glad we went!  Two whole blocks are decorated!  Most cars were just driving down the streets, but since it was so nice we got out of the cars to walk.  One house had Polar Express playing on a blow-up outdoor screen, almost every house had inflatables that the kids wanted to pose next to, they had arches of lights strung across the street, and a lady was dressed from head to toe in a Christmas light suit to raise money for her charity.  So cool!!
