First Trip to the ER

It was bound to happen and I'm actually surprised it didn't happen sooner. We had our first trip to the ER tonight. Harper was running at my Mom's, tripped on her mean ole' Croc, and fell head first onto the bricks on the fireplace hearth. I wasn't there, but pulled in no more than 2 minutes later from a hair appt and the bleeding had pretty much already stopped. My Mom, Ed, and I were all on the fence as to whether or not I should take her for stitches. I called the Dr's after-hour exchange and the nurse said that the size I was describing was right at the size that would require treatment. So, I took her to Anderson ER because they have the Glennon Cares for Kids pediatricians there in the evenings.

As far as ER visits go, I'd say this one was great! We were in and out in an hour and fifteen minutes with the last 15 minutes just waiting for paperwork to be completed. I was able to keep Harper entertained by reading books (I had stopped by home on the way to the hospital to put together a bag of tricks) and feeding her animal crackers. The doctor did a thorough exam of all the bones in her face and decided that a little Dermabond was all that was needed. She called in a nurse to help hold Harper down and I was anticipating the worst. As we all know, she doesn't sit still for long and still throws a fit every time we change her diaper! I swear an angel was in the room with us, though, because Harper laid perfectly still the whole 3 minutes. Seriously a minor miracle! Actually, both the doctor and the nurse said she was the best patient all day and I could hear them talking about how well she did even as they walked down the hall. I was so proud. Good job, baby girl!
It really doesn't look bad at all. I'm glad that it is near her hairline, so it will be easy to cover the scar.

Pointing to her boo-boo.

The put her bracelet on her ankle and she didn't like that at all. I put it on her wrist for the picture.
