We did our first 5K as a family today - the Run for Ovarian Cancer in Forest Park. Our neighbor's mom passed away earlier this year from Ovarian Cancer and she got a team together to run in her memory. I'll be honest that I wasn't too excited about it just because I knew it would be a hilly course, I'd be pushing Harper in the jogger, and since school started I've only run 3 times and only 1 time outside. I knew I would probably have to walk some of it and was embarassed. Allan is training to run in the 1/2 Marathon next weekend, so he was excited to run.
I'm so glad that we ended up going! There was a great crowd and the rain took a break right at start time. Allan was a good sport and stayed with me instead of running ahead. We walked some of the steeper hills and when I needed to just catch my breath. We also stopped after the first mile to take off our jackets, which added to our time. I think we finished in the 35 minute range. Not great, but at least we did it! Allan would love to continue doing races as a family.
I regret not having anyone take our picture! I even had my brand new little camera in my purse in the car. I guess that means we have to do another one soon...
