Chicago Weekend Day 1

Our whole family made the trip up to Chicago this weekend for my cousin Paula's wedding. I was so excited to get out of town. We haven't been to Chicago since I was pregnant with Delaney. I was anxious to see how this excursion went because I was thinking of it as a mini "trial-run" for our trip to England at Easter.

To my delight, Jon and Alina road with us. They helped keep the girls entertained in the car and I happily read my book in the front seat :). The drive up was uneventful (except for the crazy wind!) and we met Ken, Kathy, Ann, Cody, and my Dad at Winn Dixie for dinner.

We rolled into the hotel at about 9 pm and went to work trying to get the girls to sleep. They were so excited that it took almost an hour! The whole 6th floor was reserved for wedding guests, so I went down to my Aunt's room to visit with some family for a bit.

In the morning, we went down to the restaurant for breakfast. It was one of those "cook-to-order" breakfasts with an omelet station, waffles, etc. We all ate way too much because it there were so many delicious offerings and, oh yeah, it was complimentary!

The wedding was at 10:30 am at Willow Creek, which is the mega church that Paula and Tony go to. It is huge! Their ceremony was held at the "Lakeside Chapel" which, of course, had a beautiful view of a little lake. I enjoyed the two worship songs that Paula had incorporated into the service. The brunch reception was down the road at The Seville.

Delaney had her first experience with Pop Rocks - part of the wedding favors.

Harper was literally doing laps around the dance floor while waiting for the meal, so I ran outside to get our bag of princesses for them to play with and share with cousins.

Cody joined in on the fun :)

Daddy and Harper dancing (he had to catch her first!).

Not sure what this dance move is called. It reminds me of Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction.

Final pose.

After the reception, we went back to the room to take a family nap, swam in the hotel pool, and went to Giordano's for some deep-dish Chicago style pizza - and the best garlic cheese bread ever! Great day!
