Delaney's teacher completed a Preschool Assessment on her this week at school and I got the results today. I'm happy to say that she got a glowing report! She got all plusses in Basic Skills (patterns, counting, shapes, colors, name, etc), Social Emotional Development (interacts with others, confidence, respects rules, etc), Work Habits (directions, clean-up), and Fine Motor Skills (pencil, scissors, etc.) She received no minuses and her only "improvement shown" was for listens attentively. The teacher's note said "doing better at not talking during circle time."
She could draw a circle, triangle, and square, identify all capital letters, and identify all lower case letters except for p,b,and d. She can also identify all numbers 1-10, all colors, and all shapes except diamond. She counted to 29.
Her teachers comments were: She is such a sweet girl and has grown so much this year. It has been a pleasure to get to know her better! She is going to do a wonderful job in Kindergarten! Good luck and God Bless!
We're proud of you, Delaney!
Ms. Kellie also attached a summer calendar with practice items for each day to help prepare for kindergarten in the fall. It includes tasks such as use alphabet flashcards, draw a tree, write your name 5 times, look for Kk's in the newspaper, and count the cans in your pantry. I thought there were a lot of neat ideas for us to try that I probably would not have done otherwise.
